Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a Data Scientist III at our facility in Bellevue, WA to develop optimization models to establish an ideal inventory placement strategy at Chewy, estimating the impact of inventory placement on fulfillment costs.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Create models to quantify item substitutability and interactions between inventory in Chewy’s catalog
  • Partner with business users and other data scientists and engineers to build automated solutions at the intersection of inventory optimization, replenishment, topology, and operation
  • Develop scenario management models to facilitate “what if” scenario planning
  • Communicate your findings to senior leaders and executives throughout the company

What You’ll Need:

  • Master's degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 3 years of experience
    • or PhD and 1 year of experience
  • Experience must include 1 year with: designing optimization and machine learning solutions for large scale applications
  • Ability to understand and apply advanced mathematics and Bayesian regression techniques
  • Statistical and machine learning computer programming in Python and R
  • Dynamic Programming in optimization
  • Development of ML models using collaborative programming tools (Git, Confluence, etc.)
  • Experience in Supply Chain and Logistics
  • Experience in the design and implementation of AB tests, power analysis, experimental design, and hypothesis testing
  • Startup experience
  • The position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program

Compensation & Benefits:

Our salary range for a Data Scientist III position is $142,501 to $215,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
