We’re looking for a Director, Data Analytics to help us establish and scale a high performing data-driven analyst team. As the leader of the Data Analytics team, you will work closely with key business and product stakeholders across the organization to help inform roadmaps and strategic decisions based on insights derived from data repositories and integrated systems. You’ll be the subject matter expert when it comes to quantifying and building visibility to the potential impact of initiatives and advising how to measure results and prioritize efforts and resources. While working remotely or in a hybrid work arrangement, a blend of virtual (in accordance with Hootsuite’s distributed workforce strategy), and in Hootsuite’s Vancouver, Toronto or Atlanta office, you will report to the CFO.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of highly skilled embedded business & product analysts and data engineers, supporting all areas of Hootsuite. Perform full scope of people management responsibilities including selection, coaching, mentoring, development, performance management and DE&I.
  • Drive the vision for business & product analytics to ensure we are always learning and improving through shared best practices and a data analytics “center of excellence”
  • Deliver data-driven recommendations and insights in a clear and concise way to all levels, including C-Suite stakeholders, across all areas of the organization and that contributes to the analysis for strategic leadership priorities
  • Explore, define and standardize our business and product KPIs and metrics and provide efficient and meaningful reporting capabilities across the organization
  • Build our capabilities and process maturity to improve integrity and quality of our data assets through data stewardship, validation and monitoring of our most critical operational reporting
  • Development of our organizational approach in leveraging data science to better predict customer value and business outcomes
  • Lead the work to build and scale user growth models that drive and inform predictive user growth
  • Develop and evolve impact frameworks to help Product Managers prioritize product releases based on impact
  • Provide guidance around A/B testing measurement to ensure results are reliable, valid, and accurate
  • Organizational advocate for data governance and partner to Legal & Privacy, Information Security, and other teams within the organization tasked to uphold data compliance and integrity
  • Collaborate closely with the FinOps teams to develop reporting and data strategies
  • Collaborate closely with the data engineering team (DataTech) in ensuring alignment on evolving the data maturity of our most operational data assets
  • Advise stakeholders across the company on how to best leverage business and product data in their own analysis and workflows
  • Provide leadership and advocacy for accurate product event tracking, documentation of definitions, and education around how to best structure and analyze data
  • Lead the development of standardized data assets within the data warehouse to help consolidate the collective understanding of our organizational data
  • Ensure the effective ownership of business and product analysis tools and the technology stacks and continuously look for ways to improve our toolsets and data analysis
  • Foster a community across departments on improving data literacy in our business and product data assets 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED: 

  • 15 years experience with leading data analytics teams, preferably leveraging business and product data in a SaaS business model
  • Post-secondary degree, in computer science, business and/or engineering, MBA or similar an asset
  • Strong knowledge and technical skills using common data management tools, (e.g. Excel, SQL, R/Python, AWS Redshift, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with Product event data analysis tools (Mixpanel, Interana, Amplitude or similar) and data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Proven experience working with Product, Development, Technology and Business teams to deliver customer facing value in a fast paced environment
  • Data Management and Infrastructure experience including quality control and assurance. Experience working in an Agile environment
