CastleGate Forwarding, Wayfair’s strategic ocean freight business, operates internationally to bolster Wayfair's e-commerce fulfillment operations. We collaborate daily with teams across the business to develop strategic, data-informed tools that enhance value for both CastleGate Forwarding, supplier partners, and Wayfair’s ecommerce platform.

About the role:

The CastleGate Forwarding team is set on the path to becoming a top-tier forwarder in the industry. Capitalizing on Wayfair's extensive ecommerce business and supplier network, CastleGate Forwarding is implementing a forward-thinking strategy to activate remarkable year-over-year growth. Central to this opportunity is our proprietary operating system, NaviOS, which has been custom-built to supercharge our expanding freight forwarding business. NaviOS represents the future platform, serving as the comprehensive digital source of truth for real-world tracking. As a key team member, you will lead efforts to manage this platform and extract valuable insights from its data. Additionally, you will be tasked with constructing new datasets, deriving fresh insights, and developing improved methodologies to forecast the trajectory of our business and the industry as a whole.

What You'll Do:

  • Employ advanced analytical techniques to conduct in-depth analyses and extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.
  • Generate data-driven, strategic insights, craft compelling visualizations and communicate findings with a clear point of view.
  • Optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and leadership to ensure that data-driven insights are integrated into product strategy.
  • Develop and maintain scalable self-service tools, datasets, and dashboards that align with departmental goals.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to foster effective data sharing and adopt best practices across the organization.  
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance analytics capabilities.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math/Statistics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field, highly preferred. 
  • 2+ years of industry experience in an analytics role preferably in e-commerce, cloud services, or large-scale data environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL or Google BigQuery, Python, and Looker or other comparable visualization tools for data extraction, cleaning, analysis, and visualization.
  • Familiarity with data wrangling concepts, including the ability to preprocess and clean data effectively.
  • Experience with web scraping and gathering data using third party APIs.
  • Illustrate problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on developing automated solutions for efficiency and scalability or driving business insights.
  • Demonstrate an eagerness to learn the nuances of supply chain management from an analytics lens.
  • Showcase ability to communicate and present complex data insights in a clear and concise manner.
