Our Opportunity:

Chewy is hiring a Software Engineer I (Frontend) for our Pet Health Content (PetMD+BeChewy) team in Minneapolis, MN. This is a high-profile position that will have exposure across the entire business, influencing the vision and implementation of frontend/backend architecture, design, and features for Chewy Customers. This role will see you act as a technology leader on a team of engineers launching new services for expanding content targeting and improving the overall site experience for pet parents across all key petmd.com and be.chewy.com pages. What You'll Do:

  • You will have responsibility over certain components of Chewy’s Content frontend architecture and platform – both development and operational needs.
  • Apply vision, strategy, and thought leadership to impact Chewy.
  • Evolve and grow our world-class Chewy Content targeting experience, serving personalized content to our millions of visitors.
  • Immerse yourself in imagining and providing cutting-edge solutions to build high-performance, low-latency web and mobile-web experiences.
  • Have a relentless focus on scalability, latency, performance robustness, and cost trade-offs -- especially those present in highly virtualized, elastic, cloud-based environments.
  • Actively mentor engineers, build and foster a strong engineering team culture and be a key contributor in raising the bar of the engineering org.
  • Effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organization.
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication and be able to convey dissenting opinions in a constructive manner, particularly written communications.

 

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (MIS or CS preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years of industry experience in software development and proven expertise with React, JavaScript, Node.js, Next.js, and TypeScript.
  • Experience evaluating, measuring, and tuning application performance, especially for the frontend.
  • Experience with cloud-native technology stacks (i.e., AWS/Kubernetes) and service- oriented architecture.
  • Experience with micro-services, micro-frontend and/or service-oriented architecture.
  • Experience building testing frameworks like Unit testing, Playwright, etc.
  • Clear understanding of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, DataDog, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
  • Experience in PHP and CMS’ like Drupal and WordPress is a plus.
